U.S. Department of Energy Announces 2002 National Partner Awards
May 2003

The Department of Energy recently announced the winners of its 2002 National Partner Awards at the 8th National Clean Cities Conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  These awards honor companies, government entities and individuals that have made significant, long-term contributions to advancing the use of alternative fuels in cars and trucks.

Among the winners were Puget Sound Clean Cities Coalition members the City of Tacoma, ENRG Fuels USA, Inc. (now known as Clean Energy Fuels Corporation) and the American Lung Association.  The City of Tacoma was honored for leading the Northwest in the use of biodiesel in its fleets of refuse haulers and recycling trucks.  ENRG Fuels was recognized for its helping to establish more than 90 natural gas fueling stations in North America.  And the American Lung Association was awarded for its support of 26 local coalitions within the Clean Cities network.  These entities join Coalition member Pierce Transit in the National Partner "Hall of Fame".
