On a typical mild and cloudy Friday morning in Seattle, people start lining up along King Street in the Chinatown-International District. The majority of the people in line are senior citizens hoping to fill their bags with ginger, bok choy, rice, and additional items the food bank has acquired for the day. Despite the food bank opening at 11am, the line begins to weave around the building long before the doors open.

We've worked with WILD, a youth program of the Interim CDA, to teach students about air quality, how pollution can impact your health and solutions to pollution. The latest partnership activities involved our Air Monitoring Lead showing students how to read portable air monitors so they can use a citizen science approach to their community's air quality.

Earth Day has been an international event and movement since 1970 and one of the most widely observed secular holidays. At the Puget Sound Clean Air Agency (the Agency), we try to live with the sentiment that Earth Day is everyday, so everyone, everywhere can breathe clean and healthy air. We also make sure we participate in something extra on this special day.
